Traveling Into the ACTIVAT3 Conference

Greetings to all who will be joining us for the ACTIVAT3 Conference & Evangelism training in August 12th and 13th hosted by the Tapestry Vineyard Church.

Thank you for your interest in this event and we are looking forward to an awesome time with Robby Dawkins and the many different churches that are coming for this event.

The Conference is being held at Chevy Chase Baptist Church at 5671 Western Ave, NW in Washington DC, 20015.  Entrance to the registration area and sanctuary is through the main doors on Western Ave, and doors open at 6:30pm Friday evening.  The session Friday night begins at 7pm. Saturday begins at 10am.

We want to give you some information about parking around the church.  Free parking is available on the main streets and side streets, just pay attention to the signage indicating any restricted hours or days.  Please note that some streets are one-way (direction indicated by blue arrows and smaller light grey arrows), and parking is NOT allowed on Western Ave. from 4pm-6:30pm on Friday.  That is rush hour and if you park there before 6:30pm on Friday you may be towed.  After 6:30pm on Friday and all day Saturday, you may parking on Western.

Google Map of Area: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

The Easiest Way to Travel Into the Area is by Metro. You can park at any of the Twinbrook, White Flint, Grosvenor, or Glenmont stations where they have parking for $5. However, you MUST get an actual “SmartTrip” Metro Card in order to get out of the parking area and you must USE the SmartTrip card to ride the metro to get the $5 rate. The card info is here: http://www.wmata.com/fares/smartrip/

You can get SmartTrip at ANY of the stations that have parking areas and you should get it before you get onto the metro.

You can use the TripPlanner online to actually plot out your metro adventure here: http://www.wmata.com/rider_tools/tripplanner/tripplanner.cfm

The TripPlanner Output for Saturday at 9:00am looks like this:

[ Traveling from WHITE FLINT M to 5671 WESTERN AVE NW on 8/13/2011 ] >> Rail: Departs from WHITE FLINT METRO STATION at 9:17AM>> Take RED LINE Rail towards GLENMONT METRO >> Arrive : FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS METRO STATION at 9:27AM>> Walk : 0.53 mile NE to 5671 WESTERN AVE NW >> SMARTRIP FARE: (Senior/Disabled/Medicare): $ 1.60 ($ 1.45) >> CASH FARE: (Senior/Disabled/Medicare): $ 1.85 ($ 1.55)

Walking from FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS METRO STATION to 5671 WESTERN AVE NW

Exit station using WISCONSIN AVE & WESTERN AVE NW exit

Walk approx. 5 blocks NE on Western Ave.

And here is the walking map:

If you decide to arrive early and have dinner, there are a number of restaurants along Connecticut Ave noted on the map and there are additional places (a diner, Subway, Bread and Chocolate, Pumpernickles Deli, etc.) not seen on the map.  It's a very safe area and a nice walk from the church.  This is also where we recommend you go for lunch on Saturday.

We pray travelling mercies for all that are coming, and are excited about all that the Lord is going to do.

Many Blessings

The ACTIVAT3 Conference Location is GREAT and SO ARE THE PEOPLE!!!!!

Hey Guys,

I just went on the walkthrough with Jon, Melly and Daeho and I have to tell you… I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!! It is going to be so much fun to be with you guys there worshiping Jesus and learning about the Kingdom together. I know that so many of us are in so many different places right now and a lot of us face trials, issues, struggles and distractions, but this is truly going to be a time where we can come away and worship and experience GOD together and then go give it away!

I am so blessed and encouraged after hanging out with the staff at Chevy Chase Baptist where we are meeting for this event. WHAT AMAZINGLY PRECIOUS hearted people! You should hear their stories of how they brought this building back! The church was closed 14 years ago when they came and now it is a living, breathing, spirit filled space. I love the way it feels. And it is SO BEAUTIFUL!

I love the heartbeat of their leadership. I LOVE JESUS more for having met Mrs. Maureen! She is the pastor’s wife, works the office and is the Minister of Music or Worship Leader. SHE IS AWESOME! Hearing her story just lit me up!

So, I just wanted to give you an update and let you know that everything is going well for this and you all are going to LOVE IT! They have so many other churches and ministries there too. There is the Baptist Church that meets at 1pm, they have SOZO DC, there are the Healing Rooms and they have the Gate DC, (a church), as well as this cool “Washington Worships” weekend event that I want to start signing up for. Worship teams can sign up for one of the watches and they go through Friday night and all day Saturday! HOW COOL IS THAT?

So, this space is great AND THESE NEW FRIENDS ARE GREAT! I LOVE THEM! WOW! Parking may be interesting, but we can always take the Red Line!

Love you guys!

Blessings!

Just a Thought | An OLD Emaill Review from pd

Hey Guys,

I just got a note from Yireh reminding me of one of the old emails I sent out a year ago. It is really pretty good and encouraged me today, which is funny since often I don’t reread my own stuff. However, I wanted to forward the chain back to all of us and say that this is a great reread! ;)

Have a great week!

NOTE FROM YIREH:

Hey PD,

Re-reading some of the old stuff and just wanted to encourage you today how much it continues to speak to me. Keep at it pastor, the sheep are growing!

Lots of love,

YRM

PD’s OLD EMAIL:

Hey Guys,

I will be sending a more formal Thread email later about a topic that Devin has encouraged me to review. It will be about “De-Teching” & being a physical minimalist in order to be a spiritual giant.

But, before I send that, I came across this message by Henry Blackaby and wanted to send it today. I wanted to remind us to every time we read Scripture, stop and ask Poppa to speak to us. Every time we hear a sermon, ask Poppa to speak to us personally about it. And I mean, literally stopping before we listen, read or whatever and say, “Poppa, please speak to me and apply this to my life…”

And then just during the listening or reading, literally focusing in and asking yourself over and over during the exercise, “How does this apply to me?”

If we do that and then journal our results, I think we would be amazed to see what Poppa speaks. We can even do this with news, current events and/or experiences in our day to day lives. For instance, “Jesus, what are you doing in Haiti right now and how can I help You?”

You get it? I mean, you may not always find relevance, but at least you can keep the conversation with God the Father, Jesus and Spirit open and available. It may help you even make better sense out of the challenges and trials in life. And you know, I have found it is fun to connect the dots. It’s like life is a huge puzzle and I am always trying to put the pieces together. I mean, the truth is that EVERYTHING has a purpose. I just have to see what that purpose is and maximize the potential.

Hope that makes sense…

Blessings!

The Penetrating Word of God

Day-by-Day

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Heb 4:12)

Does God’s word ever cause you discomfort? When you read the Bible does what you read make you uneasy? Do you find when you listen to sermons, that the Scripture seems aimed directly at you? You are experiencing the reality that the word of God is alive and can read your thoughts and judge your intentions.

When God’s word speaks to you it is always for a purpose. God knows your heart and knows what you need to do to bring your life into conformity to Christ. If you have a problem with sinful talk, the word that comes to you will address the tongue. If you are struggling to forgive, God’s word will confront you with His standard for forgiveness. If pride has a stronghold in your life, God’s word will speak to you about humility. Whatever sin needs addressing, you will find you are confronted by God’s word on the matter.

One way you can escape the discomfort of conviction is to avoid hearing God speak to you. You may neglect reading your Bible and stay away from places where it is taught. You may avoid those whom you know will uphold the truths of Scripture. The best response, however, is to pray as the psalmist did: “Search me, O God, and know my heart” (Ps. 139:23). Regularly allow the word of God to wash over you and find any sin or impurity (Eph. 5:26). Always make the connection between your life and what God is saying to you through His word. Make a habit of taking every word from God seriously, knowing that it is able to judge your heart and mind.

 H Blackaby

Prayer has begun | Vineyard Pastors Pray!

Something pretty awesome is happening as we head into this event now. Vineyard Pastors from all over the US have been connecting with us and saying that they are praying for this event. This is NO SMALL THING! From TN to CA, it seems there is a stirring around the Vineyard and the stories we are hearing of similar revival and passion being stirred up in churches is amazing.

It seems like there is no end to what GOD is doing. Once I get a more full picture, I will start posting some of their encouraging words here along with links to their churches.

Let’s keep the prayer coming, the unity growing and the passion stirring.

Blessings!
